Plus Size Clothing Australia Modeling Agency BGM Models Changing the Face of Fashion

Darrianne Donnelly founded the plus size clothing Australia modeling agency, BGM Models, after a successful career as a plus size model herself. She began modeling and was surprised at her success. As she spent more time in the fashion industry she came to realize the need for more plus size models and an agency specifically designed to handle their careers. This is when BGM Modeling Agency was born. Since its beginnings as one of the first plus size modeling agencies, let alone the first Australian plus size modeling agency, it has grown into an international success.

BGM represents plus size clothing Australia models with clients that include Commonwealth Bank, Avon, Big W, Mysize, Special K, Australian Women’s Weekly, Cosmopolitan Magazine and many more. As the industry and media are realizing women want to see curvy and healthier looking models, their client list continues to grow.

BGM models have appeared in editorial features, on magazine covers, in television ads and in runway shows. In 2009 BGM paired up with plus size clothing Australia labels IMG Fashion City Chic to host a runway show at the Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival 2009. Of the 18 plus size models who walked at the show, 14 of them were represented by BGM. In 2011 BGM models were spotlighted in the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival in beautiful creations from plus size clothing Australia designers which included swimwear.

Recently BGM models gathered at Ms. Donnelly’s home for an in house “Ladies of the Manor” photo shoot. Plus size clothing Australia models Bree Warren, Kate Hislop and Laura Wells appeared in clothing from fellow model Natalie Wakeling’s new collection. Styling was done by BGM models and the photos were spectacular. The models signed with BGM include:
  • Roxy Jurgens
  • Lauren Koenig
  • Emma Woolrych
  • Angelica Gray
  • Amy Vale
  • Jessica Hickman
  • Selena Lawson
  • And many more

Models are signed from all over Australia including Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and internationally. The true beauty of Australia is represented in the lovely ladies of BGM and each one is a groundbreaker in her own right. Many of the plus size clothing Australia models have been the first ones to appear in straight size runway shows and mainstream publications. This is one of the reasons Darrianne Donnelly founded the agency. To give beautiful curvy Australian and international models a place to be represented and highlighted for the talented and gorgeous women they truly are. During the years BGM has changed the face of fashion and continues to do so today. Perhaps in the near future there will be no “plus” or “straight” models, but only stunning women strutting their stuff no matter what the number on their clothing tags say.

Perks of a Plus Size

Are you just depressed of your figure? Do you think being a full figured woman has limited choices when it comes to clothing? Do you think being plump limits your chances to express yourself through fashion? Do you think it hinders you to look your best and become very endearing and attractive?

If you are continuously drowning yourself to such irrational and negative thoughts, then STOP. We are already in the 21st century. Gone are the days when you would just have to wear oversize and baggy clothes if you are fat. Also, this is no longer the milieu when you are ostracized and rejected just because of your figure. People know better these days. They already know that there is really more to a person rather than its physical appearance.

Such ideology fuels the radical change that is emerging in the fashion industry. Fashion designers all around the world are already into designing clothes for the plus size generation. The plus size fashion is slowly developing into a fashion genre. Numerous shops and boutiques are already offering equally fashionable clothes for the plus size women.

If you are a plus size woman who recently discovered the joys of plus size clothing, then you might want to note the following guidelines that could help you find the right clothes for you. Next to the size, you should also consider the fabric, color and design would look good on you. It also pays to realize what kind of design could accentuate your curves and downplay your problem areas.

Black is the staple color that could make you look thin. But if you are not a black fan, then you might want to try monotone-colored dresses that are proportionate to the body. Wearing prints depend on your height. It is best for a taller person to wear dresses with a large print while a petite woman should wear an outfit that has a small print in it.

Also, finding clothes that are not too tight or too loose is the cardinal rule of plus size fashion. Wearing a dress that is too tight may let your bulges show. While dresses that are too loose and those that lack shape will just make you look even bigger. It is important to get the perfect fit when it comes to plus size clothing. If you are buying in a shop, always take time to fit the dress that you would buy and if you are buying online, make sure that you get your measurements right and refer to their size charts to keep you guided on which dress could have the perfect fit on you.

Plus Size Dresses for Spring and Summer

Spring is in the air and soon the hot days of summer will be upon us. This is the perfect time for plus size dresses. Nothing feels as cool and comfortable as a pretty dress in the warm weather. This season designers have several styles of plus size dresses to offer. You can find styles from very formal to pretty sundresses. Colors range from neutrals to bright along with lively prints. Retro styles are popular this season with inspiration from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s showing up on runways. Pretty accents like flutter sleeves, tiered skirts, wrap dresses and flowing styles are on trend right now.

The wrap dress was first introduced by Halston in the 70’s and since then has remained a staple in women’s wardrobes. Plus size dresses in the wrap style are very flattering since they give the illusion of a smaller waist. If you have a curvy shape, wrap dresses will look especially good on you since the style accentuates your natural curves. Very bold patterns are also a hallmark of this season’s wrap dress. These also draw inspiration from the patterns and colors of the 70’s. Pair them with some cute wedges and you’ve got the perfect look for any occasion or to wear to work this spring and summer.

Empire waist dresses have been popular for quite some time now and for good reason. Empire waist plus size dresses hide a multitude of full size figure challenges. If your tummy is a bit large, or your hips and thighs are large, an empire size dress will help to hide these facts. You can also wear shorter empire waist dresses as long tunics with leggings or pants. This look when paired with ballerina flats or sandals is one that can take you to town or out on a date.

Sundresses are favorites for spring and summer because they keep you cool and look great. Plus size dresses that are sleeveless or have sexy straps look great on almost all women. If you’re self conscious about your arms, simply slip on a cute short jacket made of a light material. Knit or crochet shrugs are also an attractive way to camouflage your arms and back. Sundresses come in several styles, colors, prints and materials.

Gauzy plus size dresses in bright colors are very hot right now. These can be short, mid-length or maxi-length. Styles showing up on the runways include full almost caftan silhouettes, tiered dresses with contrasting colors and simple A-line dresses. With so many styles to choose from, you are sure to find ones that flatter and fit you this spring and summer, and keep your cool during the hot months.
